Welcome Message 17th Annual Viking Cup: Shanghai, China 2006 Easter Weekend: April 13th to 15th, 2006 Shanghai, China Welcome to our web page, introducing you to the Viking Cup 2006, Shanghai. This site has been developed in an effort to give you easy access to information that is important to you as team organizer or as individual participating soccer player or supporter. We are very excited - and proud and honored - to be able to welcome you to Shanghai during Spring of 2006. April 13th to 15th to be exact. Many speculations and considerations since the Viking Cup in Saigon, as to WHERE we might host the event. Shanghai was chosen for many reasons. We hope that you will trust us with the decision made. The Viking Cup has in the 17 years of history, never been this far North - in a non tropical environment, and thus never ever this close to its Danish roots. It is also the first time that the tournament will be hosted in China. We hope that all potential teams and supporters will embrace this as a great opportunity to join a slightly different location and environment. Traditions are important to us - and we will try not to forget any of the "must haves" in a true Viking Cup tournament. A change that we will not be able to avoid is that it will NOT be 40 degrees and for once it may actually be pleasant to play. The event is hosted by the Shanghai Vikings and we finally have a possibility to show you our home turf and get the opportunity to repay some of the hospitality experienced from the previous Viking Cup tournaments which we have experienced. Every Viking Cup has it highlights. We have been / are, and will be working hard to give you as positive and great an experience of yet another Viking Cup..
